Alejandro Nunez Carrera is the Director General of the National Commission for Nuclear Safety and Safeguards. He has 35 years of experience in the nuclear field, working on projects related to probabilistic safety analysis, thermohydraulics, neutronics and nuclear safety.

He has a degree in Physics and Mathematics, Master's in Nuclear Engineering and a PhD in Engineering. He has several publications in specialized journals on nuclear matters.

Antonio Ramiro holds a bachelor's degree in Production Engineering and a master's degree in International Cooperation for Development from Universidad de Extremadura (Spain) and has over 20 years of experience in the electrical generation market, participating in different technology projects such as Nuclear, Gas, Coal-fired, Wind or Concentrated Solar Power.

During this time, he has worked in Training, Simulation, Construction, and Power Plant commissioning. In the last years, he has especially focused on Leadership, which is trained by Harvard Business School and qualified by WANO (Word Association of Nuclear Operators).

He currently holds the position of Executive Director of Tecnatom/Westinghouse do Brasil.

PhD in Nuclear Engineering. Full Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) since 1977, working in the Nuclear Engineering Program at COPPE/UFRJ.

Coordinator of the Nuclear Engineering Program at COPPE/UFRJ, Member of the Advisory Committees of CNPQ and CAPES, Editor of the Brazilian Journal of Engineering Nuclear, President of the Deliberative Council of COPPE/UFRJ, President of the Board of Directors of the COPPETEC Foundation (2002-2005), Member of the Superior Council of FAPERJ and Member of the National Science and Technology Council.

Deputy Director of COPPE/UFRJ, President of the company Indústrias Nucleares do Brasil (INB) and currently Director of Technology of the State Research Support Foundation of Rio de Janeiro (FAPERJ).

Among others, he received the American Nuclear Society Award (LAS/ANS 2016 Distinguished Professional Award) in recognition of his outstanding contribution to scientific development and the formation of human resources for the nuclear sector in Brazil, the Lobo Carneiro Award for Academic Merit 2016, for its academic performance and the Tamandaré Merit Medal.

Level 1A Research Productivity Researcher at CNPq and in 2008 was awarded the National Order of Scientific Merit.

Regarding technological development activities, he participated in over 30 technological projects related to the design, operation and safety of nuclear power plants.
